Honest limits

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Redbridge

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

About our bath re-enamelling in Redbridge

We re-enamel plenty of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We work on Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and acrylic baths, and common reasons people get in touch are a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

When to call us in Redbridge

Older baths often have several problems at once: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

Common reasons people in Redbridge contact us are:

  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Chips and rust in more than one place

Questions to ask before you book

  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What preparation is included
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • When it can be used again

Choosing a repair company

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Repair or replace: which is better?

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What we do, step by step

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes a full day in most cases. We leave the room clean and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Let us know about parking or access

FAQs for Redbridge

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Typically a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

What happens if you find more damage?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Oxfordshire.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Redbridge?

Resurfacing from £350. Every job gets a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your OX1 postcode.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

What affects the price in Redbridge

Prices start from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Redbridge. The price reflects:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of
  • How easy the damage is to reach

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Redbridge. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Something in shot to show the size

To get a price, send a couple of photos through our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

How to look after the repair

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, so limescale cannot build up.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
