What we’re called out for in Kiplin

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

People typically call us after spotting something like this:

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits

10 questions to ask before you book

DIY repairs versus a professional job

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

If you manage property in Kiplin, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There is no charge for travel to Kiplin. The price depends on:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Doing more than one item at once

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Send photos for a quote

Phone photos are fine, there is no need for anything special. Make sure they show:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There’s no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath typically involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and typically one day, with the bath ready the day after. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

What we do, step by step

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and clear up. Allow most of the day. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can typically be used the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
