Bath re-enamelling near Kirton

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Kirton

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. Common call-outs are for an outdated colour you’d like to change and stains that won’t shift, on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops.

Every job is backed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

When we’d advise against a repair

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

The process

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the work takes a full day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material and finish
  • Access to the area
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Getting a price from photos

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Details of any past repairs
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Kirton: your questions answered

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide. Prices don’t change with location.

What happens if you find more damage?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Usually, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send pictures.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

Repair or replace in Kirton?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.
