Bath re-enamelling in Laira, done in place

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. If you’re dealing with stains that won’t shift and an outdated colour you’d like to change, we can typically put it right, on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays alike.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Landlord and trade work in Laira

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Laira as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Should you replace it?

A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and usually a day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Why Laira clients choose us

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take most of the day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Honest limits

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A bath that is rusted through
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

Common problems we fix in Laira

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. We strip what’s failing and start again.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

What your quote should include

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How your room will be protected

How to compare quotes

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Do not leave a chip unrepaired
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
