Bath re-enamelling for Burraton homes

Landlords, agents and businesses in Burraton

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

About our bath re-enamelling in Burraton

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. If you are dealing with a peeling or bubbling previous coating and staining under the taps and around the waste, we can help, on Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths alike.

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Plymouth.

How to care for the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale can’t build up.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

When to call us in Burraton

Previous coatings can fail too, peeling around the waste or bubbling. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days

Questions to ask before you book

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Who will actually do the work
  • Whether they match the colour on site

Choosing a repair company

When a repair is not the answer

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

What happens on the day

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take the best part of a day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can generally be used the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Getting a price

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

FAQs for Burraton

Will the bath be moved?

Not at all. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

How long is the bath unusable?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the following day. We give you timings with the quote.

What do you need from me?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Are there extra charges for Burraton?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

Is there a smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. If photos don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and typically a day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.
