About our bath re-enamelling in Little Billington

We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Whether it’s several chips and rust patches and stains that won’t shift, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Little Billington questions

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Little Billington.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside if you’d like.

Do you work in Little Billington?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Little Billington and the rest of Central Bedfordshire. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

How long is the bath unusable?

Most baths are done in a day and can be used the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Landlord and trade work in Little Billington

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Should you replace it?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Little Billington?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

The things clients typically mention when they call are:

  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
