Need bath re-enamelling in Littleover?

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Bath re-enamelling in Littleover, done in place

Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, with the bath ready to use the following day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. If you are dealing with a roll-top that’s seen better days and an old resurfacing that’s failing, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Littleover as everywhere else we work.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • Access to the area
  • What the surface is made of
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The size and number of damaged areas

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Littleover. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Details of any past repairs

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

What we cannot put right

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we work on in Littleover

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths

Common problems we fix in Littleover

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, and only the surface is worn. The body of the bath is typically perfectly sound.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Stains that won’t shift
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean

What your quote should include

  • When it can be used again
  • How the colour is matched
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you’re not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes the best part of a day in most cases. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Repairing versus replacing in Littleover

A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Littleover

  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • One visit for most repairs

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Littleover questions

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Are there extra charges for Littleover?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

What information do you need?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Normally one day, with the bath ready the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK, so Littleover is covered. Prices don’t change with location.
