Bath re-enamelling in Llanddwywe, done in place
We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Common call-outs are for chips and rust in more than one place and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring, on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

Llanddwywe questions
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.
Is there a smell?
There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.
Do you charge for travel?
No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.
Are you a vetted contractor?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?
Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.
Do the materials smell?
It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.
Does the bath have to be removed?
No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.
How long will the bath be out of use?
Most baths are done in a day and can be used the day after. We’ll confirm timings when we quote.
What we do, step by step
There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to a full day, tidy-up included.
- We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
- We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
- We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.
Before we arrive
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Have a window or extractor fan available
Getting a price
The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos through our quote form or call us. We will say right away whether it can be repaired.
Advice
DIY repairs versus a professional job
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
For landlords and businesses
Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
How we price bath re-enamelling
Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We take into account:
- How easy the damage is to reach
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Whether we combine several jobs
A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.
Quotes from your photos
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- One picture of the whole bath
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
Send us a photo of the damage and one of the entire item, with your LL43 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Repairing versus replacing in Llanddwywe
There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the whole room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Prices start from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Llanddwywe
Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, with nothing wrong except the surface. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is normally as strong as ever.
Keep an eye out for any of the following:
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
- A coating lifting around the plughole
- Wear marks under the taps
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
What your quote should include
- What aftercare is recommended
- Who turns up on the day
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
- Whether the price covers travel
Different materials, different repairs
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
Aftercare tips
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
