How we handle bath re-enamelling in Dolgellau
We don’t move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. It usually takes one visit, and can be used again the day after. Whether it’s stains that won’t shift and chips and rust in more than one place, we can typically put it right, on basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths alike.
Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Different materials, different repairs
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
What we do, step by step
You do not need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It generally takes the best part of a day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Before we arrive
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Ensure the room can be ventilated
- Keep a parking space free if you can

Questions from Dolgellau
Is repairing better than replacing?
Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.
Do you need to take the bath out?
No. We resurface it in place, so nothing else is disturbed.
What does bath re-enamelling cost?
Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item and your postcode.
Are you accredited?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.
Will the new finish last?
Look after it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.
How long does re-enamelling take?
Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

- Stains that won’t shift
- Lots of chips and rust spots

Repair or replace in Dolgellau?
Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Aftercare tips
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
- Get any chip repaired quickly
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Repair dripping taps early
Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
