Bath re-enamelling near Lower North Dean

Bath re-enamelling in Lower North Dean, done in place

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without taking anything out. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Common call-outs are for a bath in a colour that no longer suits and several chips and rust patches, across pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Should you replace it?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Prices start from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A bath that’s rusted through

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

What we do, step by step

Your technician turns up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes most of the day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The type of damage
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The size and number of damaged areas

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send photos for a quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A photo taken from further back

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

FAQs for Lower North Dean

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send pictures.

Do you come to Lower North Dean?

We do. Repair technicians travel to Lower North Dean from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Will the bath be moved?

No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.
