Bath re-enamelling for Maesglas homes

Bath re-enamelling in Maesglas, done in place

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Our repair technicians work on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and Victorian roll-tops, and people most often call us about wear marks under the taps and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

Maesglas questions

Are there extra charges for Maesglas?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes, frequently. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Typically, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK, so Maesglas is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

DIY kit or professional repair?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Repair or replace in Maesglas?

Replacing a bath generally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Re-enamelling takes one technician and generally one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You will see the full price before you book.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Maesglas

In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and abrasive cleaners do the most damage.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • An old resurfacing that is failing

What your quote should include

  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How your room will be protected
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • How soon you can use it again

How to compare quotes

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

What we cannot put right

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

What happens on the day

We work cleanly and quietly. We protect the area first, then the work takes a full day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
