Bath re-enamelling in Meysey Hampton, done in place

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. We work on cast iron baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays, and the jobs we see most are an old resurfacing that’s failing and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

What happens on the day

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we’re there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can typically be used the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

What we can’t put right

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • A bath split right through the body

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Should you replace it?

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the entire surface with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Meysey Hampton. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • The material, if you know it
  • Where you are, by postcode

To get a price, send a couple of photos using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Questions from Meysey Hampton

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Usually one day, with the bath ready the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Meysey Hampton?

Resurfacing from £350. Every job gets a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item with your GL7 postcode.
