Middleton-in-Teesdale questions

How long does re-enamelling last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, most people go for white. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.

Bath re-enamelling in Middleton-in-Teesdale, done in place

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. We are frequently asked to fix a coloured bath you want in white and lots of chips and rust spots, in basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Middleton-in-Teesdale. What changes the price is:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Quotes from your photos

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Middleton-in-Teesdale?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits

Questions to ask before you book

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • How changes to the job are handled

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Why repair rather than replace?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Prices start from £350. Compared with replacing, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a full day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Getting a price

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in County Durham and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

What a repair cannot fix

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, particularly where water is hard, so limescale cannot build up.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.
