Bath re-enamelling in Millness

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Millness

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. Whether it’s a peeling or bubbling previous coating and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, we can normally put it right.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

How the visit works

Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes the best part of a day, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

Advice

Repair or replace in Millness?

A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface without moving it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why book with us

  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

Read our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Do you come to Millness?

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Millness. The price comes down to:

  • The material
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many areas need work
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.

What we’re called out for in Millness

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Stains that will not shift
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Lots of chips and rust spots

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match

When a repair is not the answer

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.
