Bath re-enamelling in Minishant without replacing anything

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, and you can use the bath the day after. Nothing is disconnected or removed. We regularly repair cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and pressed steel baths, and common reasons people contact us are wear marks under the taps and staining under the taps and around the waste.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

What we cannot put right

We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A bath split right through the body

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Materials we work on in Minishant

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays

Work for landlords and builders

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Common questions in Minishant

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Minishant included. There is no extra charge for travel.

Will the new finish last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed price. There is no obligation to book.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

How to look after the repair

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Store bottles off the bath

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse off any bath products.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How hard the colour is to match

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

For a price in Minishant, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Why repair rather than replace?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why book with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

See our prices page and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

What we do, step by step

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. Allow a full day.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can usually be used the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Open a window if you can

Ask for a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through.
