Bath re-enamelling for Mitford homes

About our bath re-enamelling in Mitford

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without a refit. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. Whether it’s a coating lifting around the plughole and worn patches where water runs and sits, we can usually put it right, whatever the material.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit.

Common questions in Mitford

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Northumberland.

Is the work guaranteed?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Will the new finish last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A replacement often means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and usually a day, with the bath back in use the next day. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How the visit works

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes the best part of a day, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many areas need work
  • The material and finish
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Mitford. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Send us a photo of the damage and one of the whole item, with your NE61 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

For landlords and businesses

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Store bottles off the bath

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.

What we can’t put right

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.
