How we handle bath re-enamelling in Moor Side
After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. We are often asked to fix thin, worn enamel in places and a roll-top that’s seen better days, across cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays.
All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Moor Side?
Previous coatings can fail too, peeling around the waste or bubbling. We strip what’s failing and start again.
Clients usually contact us about:
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- Chips and rust in more than one place
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- A roll-top that’s seen better days

Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.
Cast iron
Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
What a repair can’t fix
We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
- Holes rusted through the metal
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Moor Side questions
How long does re-enamelling take?
Normally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.
Will it make a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
Will there be fumes?
Yes, while we’re applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Will there be a smell?
Expect a mild smell while we’re working, which fades afterwards.

Prices and what affects them
Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Where the damage is and how we get to it
- How hard the colour is to match
Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.
Quotes from your pictures
Phone photos are fine. Ensure they show:
- The material, if you know it
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- A photo taken from further back
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
Upload photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your HD8 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
Should you replace it?
If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Looking after it afterwards
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:
- Repair dripping taps early
- Store bottles off the bath
- Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
- Avoid suction-cup mats
Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse off any bath products.
On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
The process
Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes the best part of a day in most cases. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
- We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
- Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
- We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the day after.
Preparing for the visit
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Clear the area around the damage
