For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

Should you replace it?

A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and normally a day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for New Holland. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How the visit works

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take a full day.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Ensure the area is dry

Advice

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in New Holland

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A coloured bath you want in white

When we’d advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The material and finish
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How easy the damage is to reach

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Quotes from your photos

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Any details about the material
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size

Email us a picture of the damage and one of the whole item, with your DN19 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.
