Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

Bath re-enamelling in Oakle Street without replacing anything

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. Our technicians work on Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and a coating lifting around the plughole.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Gloucestershire.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Oakle Street

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Oakle Street as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

The process

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes most of the day, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Advice

Oakle Street questions

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Will the bath be moved?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

It depends on preparation, use and care. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Oakle Street?

Prices start from £350. We give a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Do you work in Oakle Street?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Oakle Street and the rest of Gloucestershire. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How long is the bath unusable?

Usually a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Usually, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Why repair rather than replace?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is generally much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s much quicker too. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • Colour-matched on site
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • We leave the room as we found it

See our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

Our hiring checklist

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • What the surface is made of
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How many areas need work

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The material, if you know it

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can price the job.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.
