Bath re-enamelling in Outwell

Bath re-enamelling in Outwell, done in place

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. We’re often asked to fix lots of chips and rust spots and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring, across cast iron baths, acrylic baths and basins & shower trays.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Outwell?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • Thin, worn enamel in places

We begin by going over the job with you. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and we start. Allow the best part of a day, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.

Advice

Common questions in Outwell

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working, which fades afterwards.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

What happens after I send photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote with dates.

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Normally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Repairing versus replacing in Outwell

Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Outwell. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why book with us

  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • One-year guarantee on every repair

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Never use suction bath mats

The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Norfolk and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Outwell as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

What a repair can’t fix

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
