Bath re-enamelling for Parkengear homes

Bath re-enamelling in Parkengear without replacing anything

The bath stays where it is, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. Most baths are done in one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. We work on Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths, and common reasons people contact us are enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Work for landlords and builders

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Parkengear use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

Questions from Parkengear

Is my repair covered?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

How soon can you come?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Usually, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole bath and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Is there a smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

When a repair isn’t the answer

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we work on in Parkengear

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, making good the walls and tiles and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish without moving it. Prices start from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

Why us?

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

What happens on the day

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for most of the day. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Advice

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Parkengear?

Previous coatings can fail too, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
