Bath re-enamelling for Pentre Pella homes

About our bath re-enamelling in Pentre Pella

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. We’re often asked to fix a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and a roll-top that’s seen better days, in basins & shower trays, cast iron baths and acrylic baths.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

Pentre Pella questions

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It clears as the materials cure.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Are there extra charges for Pentre Pella?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed price, usually with dates to choose from. You are under no obligation.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Repairing versus replacing in Pentre Pella

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The material and finish
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Doing more than one item at once

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Pentre Pella. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

You can typically get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • One picture of the entire bath
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Most customers in Pentre Pella get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

What a repair can’t fix

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and do not leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Landlord and trade work in Pentre Pella

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

If you manage property in Pentre Pella, we will quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

How it works

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a full day, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
