About our bath re-enamelling in Pested

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are an outdated colour you’d like to change and worn patches where water runs and sits.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

Repair or replace in Pested?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, with the bath ready the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why book with us

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • One price list for the whole UK

How it works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take most of the day, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Questions from Pested

Will the bath be moved?

No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.

What happens after I send photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Pested. The price comes down to:

  • Access to the area
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Unusual colours or finishes

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from pictures

You can usually get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

How to look after the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Rinse away dyes, oils and bath bombs straight after use, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
