For landlords and businesses
Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

What we can’t put right
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:
- Holes rusted through the metal
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- A metal bath with a through crack
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.
Materials we work on in Platt

Why repair rather than replace?
Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Platt. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Why Platt customers choose us
- Same prices wherever you are
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- Colour-matched on site
- Honest advice, even when it means no job

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.
Keeping it looking good
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
- Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
- Never use suction bath mats
- Wash away dyes and oils after use
Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
The process
When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job normally takes a full day. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Preparing for the visit
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Let us know about parking or access

Questions from Platt
What information do you need?
Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, we frequently do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.
How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Platt?
Prices start from £350. Every job gets a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item with your TN15 postcode.
Can you change the colour of my bath?
Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.
Do you need to take the bath out?
No, it stays where it is. We work on the bath in place, with the room masked and ventilated.
Is there a guarantee?
All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
Can I get a quote without a visit?
Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.
Can you repair several things at once?
Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.
DIY kit or professional repair?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:
- Doing more than one item at once
- The size and number of damaged areas
- The material
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.
Getting a price from pictures
Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:
- Where you are, by postcode
- Any earlier repairs or coatings
- Natural light rather than flash
- A wider photo showing the entire bath
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.
