Bath re-enamelling in Plumgarths without replacing anything
Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, and you can use the bath the next day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. Common call-outs are for a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and wear marks under the taps, across cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.
You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from photos. These are the things that affect it:
- Access to the area
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- What the surface is made of
We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Plumgarths. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Getting a price from photos
We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- A picture taken from further back
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
To get a price, send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
How it works
Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which generally takes the best part of a day. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Before we arrive
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Keep a parking space free if you can

Advice
Plumgarths questions
Are you accredited?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
Is there a call-out fee?
We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.
What do you need from me?
A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.
Will the price change on the day?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
Can you price it without visiting?
Nearly always. If photos don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.
Will there be fumes?
A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.
Is it messy?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
Aftercare tips
So the finish stays in good condition:
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Repair dripping taps early
- Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.
Repair or replace in Plumgarths?
Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
What you get with us

Landlord and trade work in Plumgarths
Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.
What we cannot put right
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Steel that has corroded right through
- A bath split right through the body
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.
What we work on
- Basins & shower trays

Common problems we fix in Plumgarths
Previous coatings can fail too, lifting by the plughole or blistering. We strip what’s failing and start again.
You may need us if you’ve spotted:
- Stains that won’t shift
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- Thin, worn enamel in places
What your quote should include
- What happens if they find more damage
- Who will actually do the work
- Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
- How the room is protected while they work
Repairs by material
Cast iron
Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.
