Bath re-enamelling in Polruan

About our bath re-enamelling in Polruan

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We regularly repair cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths, and people most frequently call us about a coating lifting around the plughole and thin, worn enamel in places.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

What we do, step by step

Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes the best part of a day, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Polruan. The price depends on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of

Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Getting a price from photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • One picture of the whole bath

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There’s no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Polruan: your questions answered

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

What happens after I send pictures?

We come back with a fixed quote. There is no obligation to book.

Will the new finish last?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and it’s guaranteed for a year.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Can tenants book a repair?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Polruan?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed quote from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your PL23 postcode.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Polruan?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

Most people contact us when they notice something like this:

  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

How to compare quotes

When a repair is not the answer

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • A bath split right through the body

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays

Why repair rather than replace?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is generally much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s much quicker too. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
