Bath re-enamelling near Queen Adelaide

Queen Adelaide: your questions answered

How long is the bath unusable?

Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Can tenants book a repair?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

Are there extra charges for Queen Adelaide?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you work in Queen Adelaide?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Queen Adelaide for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

About our bath re-enamelling in Queen Adelaide

We don’t move the bath, so the taps, tiles and plumbing are not touched. It generally takes one visit, and can be used again the following day. We work on acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and common reasons people get in touch are an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and a coloured bath you want in white.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

What affects the price in Queen Adelaide

Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before you book. We look at:

  • How much damage there is
  • Access to the area
  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed price

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the entire bath

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Honest limits

A repair is not always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Common problems we fix in Queen Adelaide

Enamel wears gradually. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, starting where water runs and sits.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • Lots of chips and rust spots

What to look for in a quote

  • If travel is included in the price
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What aftercare is recommended
  • What protection goes down before work starts

Our hiring checklist

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

If you manage property in Queen Adelaide, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.

How the visit works

Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take a full day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Should you replace it?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is generally much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
