Bath re-enamelling near Radford

About our bath re-enamelling in Radford

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. We regularly repair pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and acrylic baths, and the jobs we see most are an outdated colour you’d like to change and a roll-top that’s seen better days.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • What the surface is made of
  • What kind of damage it is

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

How to get a fixed quote

Phone photos are fine. Just ensure we can see:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One picture of the whole bath

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can price the job without visiting.

Should you replace it?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

Why us?

  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Colour-matched on site
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • We leave the room as we found it

Read our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

The process

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes most of the day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Getting a price

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There’s no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

How to look after the repair

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Have chips seen to early

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Radford

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

How long is the bath unusable?

Most baths are done in a day and can be used the day after. We give you timings with the quote.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Do you cover Radford?

We do. Technicians travel to Radford from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

When to call us in Radford

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used. The body of the bath is usually perfectly sound.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • Several chips and rust patches

What your quote should include

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Who turns up on the day
  • How to care for the finish
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

Our hiring checklist

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

What we cannot put right

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
