Bath re-enamelling for Rendlesham homes

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Rendlesham

Most baths are re-enamelled in a day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. Typical jobs include enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and thin, worn enamel in places, across cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Getting a price from pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

To get a price, send two or three photos through our quote form or call us. We will say right away whether it can be repaired.

The process

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a full day, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Getting a price

Email us photos of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your IP12 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Common problems we fix in Rendlesham

The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Thin, worn enamel in places
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • Lots of chips and rust spots

What your quote should include

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How your room will be protected
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers

Choosing a repair company

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Rendlesham

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Rendlesham as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Why us?

  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

Common questions in Rendlesham

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working that clears as it cures.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, frequently. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Do you come to Rendlesham?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Rendlesham for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

How long is the bath unusable?

Normally one day, with the bath ready the day after. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

When a repair isn’t the answer

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.
