Bath re-enamelling near Scotstoun

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Scotstoun. The price comes down to:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The type of damage

Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Quotes from your pictures

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Details of any past repairs

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Bath re-enamelling in Scotstoun, done in place

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We regularly repair cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays, and people most often call us about an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and a coating lifting around the plughole.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Scotstoun as everywhere else we work.

Common problems we fix in Scotstoun

In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed:

  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • Several chips and rust patches

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How to care for the finish
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Choosing a repair company

How it works

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. It normally takes a full day, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Before we arrive

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Repair or replace in Scotstoun?

A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the entire surface without moving it. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why us?

  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Scotstoun

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Will the new finish last?

Care for it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

What happens next?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, typically with dates to choose from. There is no obligation to book.

What information do you need?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of Glasgow. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
