Bath re-enamelling in Robin Hood without replacing anything
We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, and we take our time over it. We work on Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and cast iron baths, and people most frequently call us about chips and rust in more than one place and worn patches where water runs and sits.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Questions from Robin Hood
What happens after I send photos?
We review the photos and send a fixed quote with dates.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.
How long does re-enamelling last?
Look after it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.
What do you need from me?
Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.
Is it safe with children and pets around?
Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We will tell you when the room can be used again.
Will it make a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.
How soon can you come?
We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
What affects the price in Robin Hood
Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. What matters most is:
- How many areas need work
- Doing more than one item at once
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- The colour and finish to match
There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
How to get a fixed quote
The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- Natural light rather than flash
- What it’s made of, if you know
For a price in Robin Hood, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.
How the visit works
You do not need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It typically takes most of the day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
Before we arrive
- Open a window if you can
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Make sure the area is dry
How to get a price
For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Repairs by material
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported for the finish to last.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

What else we do in Robin Hood
Why repair rather than replace?
A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Resurfacing renews the whole surface without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
Why us?
- We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
- Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
- One-year guarantee on every repair
- Dust sheets down, tidy finish
Take a look at our prices page and bath cost comparison.
Keeping it looking good
Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.
When a repair isn’t the answer
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Steel that has corroded right through
If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.
