Trusted bath re-enamelling in Roch

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Roch

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. We’re often asked to fix an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and thin, worn enamel in places, on basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Landlord and trade work in Roch

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

FAQs for Roch

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What do you need from me?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Typically, yes. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send photos.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Are there extra charges for Roch?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

When to call us in Roch

Enamel wears gradually. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, generally first under the taps and around the waste.

People usually call us after spotting something like this:

  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • Stains that will not shift
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

What your quote should include

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

Choosing a repair company

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It generally takes the best part of a day, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • The type of damage
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Unusual colours or finishes

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • One picture of the entire bath

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Repair or replace in Roch?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.
