Bath re-enamelling in Rock

What happens on the day

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take the best part of a day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the day after.

How to prepare

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Ask for a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Rock

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. Typical jobs include chips and rust in more than one place and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, on basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of
  • How many areas need work

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your photos

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Any details about the material

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse off any bath products.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Rock questions

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Resurfacing from £350. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Do you cover Rock?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Rock. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

How quickly can you book me in?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Rock, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send pictures for each address and we will price them together.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.
