Bath re-enamelling in Sullington

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Sullington

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without taking anything out. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Common call-outs are for brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough, across acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Have chips seen to early

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How much damage there is

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it

To get a price, send two or three photos through our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

Landlord and trade work in Sullington

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access.

Should you replace it?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the entire surface without moving it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Sullington questions

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

What areas do you cover?

The whole UK, including all of West Sussex. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll offer you dates.

What do you need from me?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll do the rest.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

What a repair cannot fix

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

How it works

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a full day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

How to get a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.
