Trusted bath re-enamelling in Salterswall

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Salterswall

We clean, repair and prime the bath before spraying the new finish. The preparation is what makes it last, so we do not cut corners on it. Typical jobs include lots of chips and rust spots and staining under the taps and around the waste, across acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

What we can’t put right

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Salterswall: your questions answered

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

What happens after I send pictures?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of Cheshire West and Chester. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Salterswall. What changes the price is:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The material
  • How much damage there is

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Most clients in Salterswall get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

What happens on the day

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It typically takes a full day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Ask for a price

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners

Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and do not leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

When to call us in Salterswall

Enamel does not fail overnight. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths wear the gloss away, normally first under the taps and around the waste.

Contact us if you’ve noticed:

  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating

Before booking anyone

  • What aftercare is recommended
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
