For landlords and businesses

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Sandleheath as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

Bath re-enamelling in Sandleheath without replacing anything

Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. We’re frequently asked to fix staining under the taps and around the waste and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, in pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and Victorian roll-tops.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Sandleheath: your questions answered

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Usually, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Usually one day, with the bath ready the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

What we do, step by step

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes the best part of a day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can typically be used the next day.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Ask for a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • The material
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Doing more than one item at once

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Sandleheath. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

You can take the pictures on your phone. Ensure they show:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Email us pictures of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you are in Sandleheath, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Should you replace it?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the whole room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Fix dripping taps quickly

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, especially in hard water areas, so limescale cannot build up.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

When a repair is not the answer

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.
