Bath re-enamelling in Scrabster without replacing anything

Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. If you are dealing with an old resurfacing that’s failing and several chips and rust patches, we can help, on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and basins & shower trays alike.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

For landlords and businesses

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access.

Repair or replace in Scrabster?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

How it works

From the moment we arrive, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes the best part of a day, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the next day.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Open a window if you can
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

What affects the price in Scrabster

Resurfacing from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Scrabster. The price depends on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material and finish
  • How many areas need work
  • The colour and finish to match

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Scrabster. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Most customers in Scrabster get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

When a repair is not the answer

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Steel that has corroded right through

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Scrabster

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

Care for it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You’ll get a fixed quote back. There’s no obligation to book.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Will there be fumes?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

What do you need from me?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Can tenants book a repair?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
