Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Store bottles off the bath

Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

Bath re-enamelling in Sector, done in place

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without a refit. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Common call-outs are for stains that won’t shift and an outdated colour you’d like to change, in Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and cast iron baths.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

How to compare quotes

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.

Sector: your questions answered

What happens after I send pictures?

We come back with a fixed price. You’re under no obligation.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Will the price change on the day?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Typically a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Do you work in Sector?

We do. Repair technicians travel to Sector from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Why repair rather than replace?

There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.
