Bath re-enamelling near Send

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

How to prepare

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

How to get a price

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Send

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We regularly repair acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and common reasons people contact us are staining under the taps and around the waste and an old resurfacing that’s failing.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Send

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Send as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The type of damage
  • How many areas need work
  • Access to the area

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send pictures for a quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

When we would advise against a repair

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A metal bath with a through crack

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

Send questions

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Send included. Travel is included in the price.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Send.

Will there be fumes?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It fades as the coating cures.

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Repairing versus replacing in Send

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Send. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why us?

  • Work done at your home or business
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

How to look after the repair

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Send?

Enamel wears gradually. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths wear the gloss away, generally first under the taps and around the waste.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • A dull, rough surface that won’t come clean
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Lots of chips and rust spots

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Aftercare advice
  • How the colour is matched
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
