Bath Re-enamelling for Spelter homes
We travel to Spelter for full bath re-enamelling and resurfacing. Everything is done in place, and the work is guaranteed.
- Resurfacing from £350
- A bath that stays dull however much you clean it

What we cannot put right
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
- Steel that has corroded right through
- A metal bath with a through crack
Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
What we work on
- Victorian roll-tops
- Cast iron baths
- Pressed steel baths
- Acrylic baths
- Basins & shower trays
Bath re-enamelling in Spelter, done in place
Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. We work on Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and cast iron baths, and people most frequently call us about worn patches where water runs and sits and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off.
Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Looking after it afterwards
Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Repair dripping taps early
- Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.
Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.
Spelter: your questions answered
Can you quote from pictures?
In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.
How quickly can you book me in?
That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.
Does re-enamelling smell?
Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.
Can you resurface a pink bath in white?
Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.
Can you fix a peeling bath coating?
Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.
How long does re-enamelling last?
That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. With good preparation and gentle cleaning it lasts a long time, and our work is guaranteed for a year.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. The rest of the house is unaffected.
What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.
Can I fix it myself?
For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
Common problems we fix in Spelter
The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- Wear marks under the taps
- A peeling or bubbling previous coating
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

What affects the price in Spelter
Resurfacing from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:
- What the surface is made of
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- Unusual colours or finishes
- What kind of damage it is
Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
How to get a fixed price
Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:
- Details of any past repairs
- Any details about the material
- The postcode, so we can plan the visit
- Something in shot to show the size
Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can price the job.

Repairing versus replacing in Spelter
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Spelter. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Why book with us
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- One visit for most repairs
- Colour mixed on the day to match
- We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing

What happens on the day
You do not need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a full day, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Cast iron
Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
