How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale can’t build up.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Bath re-enamelling in Standon without replacing anything

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. We work on acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths, and people most frequently call us about staining under the taps and around the waste and worn patches where water runs and sits.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Should you replace it?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Colour-matched on site
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Standon: your questions answered

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Are there extra charges for Standon?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Can you price it without visiting?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, often. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

How long is the bath unusable?

Normally one day, with the bath ready the next day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Are you accredited?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of Staffordshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will confirm dates.

Work for landlords and builders

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

For anyone letting property in or around Standon, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll price them together.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • What the surface is made of
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Standon. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

You can normally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The material, if you know it
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take most of the day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Getting a price

Send us photos of the damage and one of the entire item, with your ST21 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
