How we handle bath re-enamelling in Stillington

We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Our technicians work on pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and acrylic baths, and common reasons people get in touch are worn patches where water runs and sits and a coloured bath you want in white.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Stillington. What changes the price is:

  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material and finish
  • How hard the colour is to match

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

Phone pictures are fine, there is no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • The material, if you know it
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

For a price in Stillington, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

When to call us in Stillington

A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and scrubbing it wears it down further. That is the point where re-enamelling makes sense.

Common reasons people in Stillington contact us are:

  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • A bath in a colour that no longer suits
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating

10 questions to ask before booking

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Repairing versus replacing in Stillington

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is generally much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

What happens next?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Do you charge for travel?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You will not be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Can pets and children be at home?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll let you know when it’s safe to use again.

What happens on the day

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. Most visits take a full day, including clearing up.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.
