Bath re-enamelling for Stokesby homes

About our bath re-enamelling in Stokesby

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. Typical jobs include enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and thin, worn enamel in places, across Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

How to care for the repair

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, generally one day, with the bath back in use the next day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

DIY kit or professional repair?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

How the visit works

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job typically takes a full day. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray on the new enamel finish in several coats.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s typically ready the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many areas need work
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many items we do on one visit

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your photos

You can typically get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Something in shot to show the size

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
