What affects the price in The Calls

Prices start from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to The Calls. The price comes down to:

  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many areas need work
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Getting a price from photos

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A picture taken from further back

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can price the job without visiting.

Bath re-enamelling in The Calls without replacing anything

Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Typical jobs include chips and rust in more than one place and stains that won’t shift, in Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and cast iron baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months in The Calls and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Repairing versus replacing in The Calls

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Resurfacing takes one technician and generally a day, with the bath back in use the following day. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • We leave the room as we found it

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners

Dry the bath after use if possible, especially in hard water areas, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Landlord and trade work in The Calls

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

When we would advise against a repair

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

The Calls questions

How long does re-enamelling take?

Typically a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, frequently. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Can you quote from photos?

In nearly every case. If photos do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Do you cover the entire of Leeds?

We work UK-wide, and that includes The Calls. Prices don’t change with location.

Is there a smell?

Yes, while we’re applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

When to call us in The Calls

Previous coatings can fail too, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits

What your quote should include

  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Who turns up on the day
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

The process

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Getting a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
