Need bath re-enamelling in The Mount?

The Mount: your questions answered

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths, ready the next day. We give you timings with the quote.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside.

How quickly can you book me in?

We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Can you price it without visiting?

Normally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.

What happens next?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Bath re-enamelling in The Mount without replacing anything

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, so we don’t cut corners on it. Typical jobs include a coating lifting around the plughole and chips and rust in more than one place, across acrylic baths, cast iron baths and Victorian roll-tops.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in The Mount as everywhere else we work.

How the visit works

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Should you replace it?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

Why book with us

  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Colour-matched on site
  • Most jobs done in one visit

When a repair is not the answer

A repair is not right for every job, including:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • A bath that is rusted through
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. There is no area surcharge for The Mount. The price reflects:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • The material and finish
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to get a fixed quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Send us a photo of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you’re in The Mount, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Aftercare tips

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. The bath needs to be firm and well supported.

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.
