Common problems we fix in Therfield

Enamel wears gradually. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use dull the surface, starting where water runs and sits.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

Bath re-enamelling in Therfield without replacing anything

If your bath is sound but looks tired, re-enamelling is typically the most cost-effective option. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. If you’re dealing with a coating lifting around the plughole and lots of chips and rust spots, we can usually put it right, whatever the material.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. We don’t charge extra for travel to Therfield. The price depends on:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Therfield. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any details about the material
  • A picture taken from further back

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Therfield: your questions answered

Do you cover the entire of Cambridgeshire?

We work UK-wide, and that includes Therfield. Prices don’t change with location.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

How do I book?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Usually, yes. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Generally, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Advice

Why repair rather than replace?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Nothing else is disturbed. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why us?

  • Colour-matched on site
  • Usually one visit, start to finish
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • Work done at your home or business

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • A bath that is rusted through
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A bath split right through the body

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Therfield as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit.
