Bath re-enamelling in Thoresby, done in place
Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. If you are dealing with a coating lifting around the plughole and staining under the taps and around the waste, we can typically put it right, whatever the material.
You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Thoresby questions
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.
Is my repair covered?
Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
Can landlords book you?
We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.
What areas do you cover?
We cover the entire UK, including Thoresby and the rest of North Yorkshire. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.
How durable is a resurfaced bath?
Care for it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.
Is there a call-out fee?
No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.
What happens after I send pictures?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Include photos of each item.

What we’re called out for in Thoresby
The gloss on enamel is thin, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.
People generally call us after spotting something like this:
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- Thin, worn enamel in places
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- Lots of chips and rust spots
What your quote should include
- Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
- How long it needs to cure
- Whether they match the colour on site
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
When a repair is not the answer
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
- A bath split right through the body
Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.
Materials we repair
- Cast iron baths
- Basins & shower trays
- Acrylic baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Pressed steel baths
Keeping it looking good
A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:
- A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
- Have chips seen to early
- Store bottles off the bath
Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Resurfacing from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Thoresby. What changes the price is:
- The size and number of damaged areas
- The colour and finish to match
- Doing more than one item at once
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.
How to get a fixed quote
You can take the pictures on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- Details of any past repairs
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- The material, if you know it
You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

The process
Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for the best part of a day. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to care for it.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
- Primer and finish coats are applied.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
How to prepare
- Let us know about parking or access
- Let us know if it has been repaired before
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

What your bath is made of matters
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
Should you replace it?
There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Thoresby. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Why Thoresby customers choose us
