Bath re-enamelling in Tickenham

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

About our bath re-enamelling in Tickenham

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. We regularly repair acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths, and people most frequently call us about staining under the taps and around the waste and several chips and rust patches.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Tickenham?

Older baths often have several problems at once: worn patches, chips, rust spots and stains. Resurfacing sorts them out together.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
  • Chips and rust in more than one place

Our hiring checklist

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. We price every job individually, from your pictures. The main factors are:

  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Getting a price from pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Any details about the material
  • One picture of the entire bath

We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Should you replace it?

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, re-enamelling is the least disruptive fix. Nothing else is disturbed. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Tickenham. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What you get with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Colour-matched on site

Read our prices page or bath cost comparison.

Keeping it looking good

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Don’t leave a chip unrepaired
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth

Dry the bath after use if possible, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow most of the day. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice

What we can’t put right

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A bath that is rusted through

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths

Questions from Tickenham

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

Look after it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

How long will the bath be out of use?

One day for most baths and can be used the day after. We will confirm timings when we quote.

Can a failed resurfacing be redone?

Yes, we do this regularly. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes, often. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Do you charge for travel?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Do you cover the entire of North Somerset?

Across the UK, and that includes Tickenham. Our prices are the same everywhere.
