Need bath re-enamelling in Tilstone Fearnall?

Should I try a DIY kit first?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Tilstone Fearnall

Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths, with the bath ready to use the following day. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. Common call-outs are for wear marks under the taps and a bath in a colour that no longer suits, across cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

When to call us in Tilstone Fearnall

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, peeling around the waste or bubbling. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • An old resurfacing that is failing
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • Thin, worn enamel in places

Before booking anyone

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

Choosing a repair company

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Tilstone Fearnall as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

What we can’t put right

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Tilstone Fearnall. The price depends on:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The colour and finish to match
  • What the surface is made of
  • How many items we do on one visit

Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Tilstone Fearnall

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Will the bath be moved?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Yes, while we are applying the finish. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Can tenants book a repair?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Typically one day, with the bath ready the day after. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

What do you need from me?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Have chips seen to early

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale can’t build up.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

What happens on the day

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes most of the day. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
