Tingrith questions

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

That depends on preparation and how the bath is treated. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

What information do you need?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Do you work in Tingrith?

We do. Technicians travel to Tingrith from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, frequently. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

Bath re-enamelling in Tingrith, done in place

Resurfacing renews the entire surface of the bath without taking anything out. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. We regularly repair basins & shower trays, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and people most frequently call us about lots of chips and rust spots and an old resurfacing that’s failing.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

What a repair can’t fix

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A cast iron or steel bath that is cracked right through

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Tingrith

  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops

For landlords and businesses

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

The process

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow a full day from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How to get a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Should you replace it?

A refit takes several trades and several days. Re-enamelling takes one technician and usually one day, and the bath can be used the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • No need to remove anything
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. There’s no charge for travel to Tingrith. The price depends on:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How much damage there is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Send photos for a quote

Two or three clear photos are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Where you are, by postcode

We price from photos so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

How to look after the repair

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas

Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
